Dear Sharks Members and Supporters,
With just two rounds left in the 2024 Home & Away season, we’re thrilled to announce that our
senior team has secured the top spot on the ladder! This incredible accomplishment reflects the
hard work and dedication of Paris, his coaching staff, and our outstanding playing group. By
finishing on top, our Seniors have earned a well-deserved week off in the first week of finals.
As we gear up for the men’s finals in two weeks, please stay tuned for important finals updates via
our social media channels. The excitement is truly building!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the Ladies Day Luncheon, which was a
tremendous success! Over 120 women participated, and together, we raised more than $2,000
for the Peter Mac Foundation. A special shoutout to Molly Heymanson for her inspiring keynote
speech, which left the room in awe as she shared her journey through illness. To all the
volunteers who helped make this event so memorable, we can’t express our gratitude enough.
Last week’s Reverse Raffle was another highlight, with a fantastic turnout. Congratulations to all
the prize winners and those who successfully bid on auction items! We also recently had a
wonderful Past Players Day—thank you to all who attended. It’s always a pleasure to see
familiar faces, and we look forward to another successful event for you next season.
This week brings more excitement as our Senior Women prepare for their first final. They’ll be
playing at Silvan on Sunday against East Ringwood, with the match starting at 2:45 PM. Let’s
rally together to show our support and cheer them on!
Our netballers are also entering their finals campaign with three games at Knox Regional
Netball Centre on Friday evening. The Div 6 side will play on Court 1 at 6:45 PM, followed by
our Div 1 and Div 5 sides at 7:40 PM. Our Div 4 team will compete at HE Parker Stadium at
6:50 PM. Finals are a special time, and it’s vital that we come out in force to support our Sharks
Netballers.
Looking ahead, be sure to save the date for our Best and Fairest Night, which will be held at the
MCG during AFL Grand Final week. The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 26th, with
tickets going on sale soon. With a public holiday on Friday, it promises to be a night to
remember, celebrating the best and fairest of our men’s and women’s footballers and netballers.
The more, the merrier—let’s make it an unforgettable evening!
Finally, don’t miss our last mens home game against Mitcham. It’s shaping up to be a
blockbuster clash between the top two teams on the ladder and the perfect final hit-out before
the finals begin. This game also features the annual Domenerians Marquee Round, another
fantastic day for everyone involved. Let’s hope for good weather!
